Jesus-Others-Yourself Last=JOY

Surrender40 Ministries outreach for July was a trip to visit Robin at Hernando County Correctional Institution in Brooksville, Florida. We have shared with you many blessed trips that we have made to see Robin, all the way back to when she was in Homestead Correctional, to present day in her faith based curriculum at Hernando. What we rarely share are some of the in depth Biblical teachings that we discuss with her, as well as the long and loving process that we believe it takes to transition an inmate back into society. Why is transition important? Let some of Robin's words convict you of why you can't be locked up in prison for OVER 20 years and just step back into free life. Robin often shares that time stopped for her in 1994, that the world as she knew it and the rights that she had were forfeited by taking someones life and being sentenced to 40 years. The world continued to grow and change, while her world got small and cold, and very void of love. One of the things that we as a ministry pray without ceasing for is a transition home for inmates about to get released, so that we can help them go from small to HUGE without experiencing panic, fear and massive amounts of cultural shock. One day soon, God willing, Robin will be free, and she will have to learn to live in a world that is riddled with sin and suffering, mass shootings and terrorism, and still hold onto her JOY, the Joy of The Lord.

Today we shared with Robin exactly how to do that, because for many, that is a struggle. So, let's break down the picture above and tell you all exactly what we shared with Robin today;

Jesus comes first: Above all people, places and things! "Pick up your cross and follow me"

Others come next: God is a GIVER, as Trachena always points out that God's greatest act of Love in a fallen world where we were ALL headed for hell,  is that God GAVE His ONLY Son, to die for us! Jesus said that it is better to give than to receive. We always have SOMETHING we can be giving.

WE COME LAST: Not much is needed to elaborate on this, it just is what it says! Others before us.

Not an easy lesson to learn for us who live in a world that says more is better, and get what you can for yourself, take care of #1, and all those cliches that you hear everyday. Jesus says, deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me. Not be a fan, be my follower. We are praying that this teaching not only speaks deeply to Robin's heart, but that is speaks loudly and lovingly to yours. We love the times we get to spend with our beloved sister in Christ and we consider her a part of our family now and forever. Thank you for reading this, please pray for Robin's clemency, and always remember that;

We Will Rise When He Calls Our Name,
