On Saturday, May 23, 2009, my wife Trachena and I found the TRUE answer to that question! The answer to Who'll stop the rain, simple, It's GOD! Surrender40 experienced the true GOODNESS of God and His mercy while on our way to feed the homeless of Miami. The first picture above is a picture of what the skies looked like as we drove downtown, just before they opened up to the drenching downpour as we started our mission that day. When all seems lost and the devil tries his best to ruin the works of God, we need to remember that there IS a God in heaven who is the ruler and creator of ALL things. A God who tells the lightning bolts where to go, a God who can, at HIS spoken word, "STOP THE RAIN" So, HE DID! He stopped the rain so that our ministry could experience our most touching and fulfilling week of giving since we began. The biggest blessing that I personally received was seeing my wife, Trachena, our blessed co-founder reduced to tears by the pain we saw, and the destruction that occurs when we turn away from the very God who made us. This week, more then ever, I saw my wife's heart reduced to pure love by the stories of the very people that we feed and minister to. And what of the people that have NOT turned from Him, the people that fit into life's category of bad things that happen to good people, what about them? There was one particular couple that we met that are married and living on the streets. They are Juan and Nelly. He lost his job and then their apartment, and now they are sleeping about 30 feet from a group of rats that were scavenging for the very food that homeless people leave behind. The most amazing thing about Juan and Nelly is this, they LOVE the Lord with all their hearts and have NEVER stopped loving Him, nor have they given up hope. Juan was quoting scriptures left and right and together him and Trachena recited the entire 23rd Psalm. It was incredible, and one of those moments that we will never forget. Yet, at the end of the day, when all the food was gone, and my wife and I were alone in our car heading home in our SUV, to our air conditioned house to enjoy a hot meal, ALL we could think of was Juan, Nelly, and the thousands of others that were going to stretch out on a box tonight and pull a newspaper over them to go to sleep. Trachena cried as her heart for the homeless was NEVER more evident then that moment when she realized that NONE of this STUFF that we have matters at all!
In total we served 220 more meals bring the ministry total of meals served to 1007. Praise His Holy Name for the opportunity to serve. One more amazing thing that I want to share with you is this. By the grace of God and with the help of YOUR donations, we also gave out 67 Bibles to people that were MORE hungry for His Word then they were for food. A few people came up to the car and when Trachena asked them if they were hungry, they said they wanted "that", pointing to the stack of Bibles that we had. One of them told my wife, "I need "THAT" to live out here on the streets, that's the REAL FOOD, and God Bless you guys for coming to help us! There is nothing else I can say, that says it ALL!

We would like to thank the people that donated the last 2 weeks to help Surrender40 feed and supply God's Word to people. We LOVE you and thank you, and I want to cry out to you in our need. Tell your friends about us, tell your Pastor's, tell your families. We need more help. It takes so much to keep up this ministry, and we CANNOT do it without you. Our money is running out!! The GOOD NEWS is that HIS money will NEVER run out, and we are believing GOD that He will speak to your hearts and that you will continue to help us on this mission. Remember that each dollar buys a meal (Our FAMOUS "LOVE BAGS") for someone and each additional dollar buys a Bible.

We Will Rise When He Calls Our Name,

Wow - what a great ministry you guys have. It is a great thing. Are you guys a 501(3)(c)? If so - you should use your tax exempt status to contact various hotels and dentist office to get shampoo, soaps, toothbrushes, tooth paste and such donated. These things will be such a blessing to the great things you already have - and will only cost you a little time. I can email you a letter that I use to get these items donated if you'd like.

What a beautiful story and a beautiful display of God's heart. You are an example of Matthew 22 ... esp. the "love your brother" command. Praying others will read your story and be inspired to do the same in their town. It's not hard to help the needy; it's not hard to love them. WE are the ones who make it so difficult. Walking with you in God's grace. ~Angelamz40

Thank you Angela @ThousandPraises,

We are so BLESSED to have your love and support. It is people like you and everyone else that reads our blog and posts from their hearts that really make our hearts cry out to God for more of HIM! Jesus said that "The poor will ALWAYS be with us". It is up to us to take care of them!

God Bless you and thanks again!
